  Short Range Lidar Camera SRLCam400 Currently available The latest innovation of the short range lidar technology will incorporate the multi-functional-camera MFC400. This gives multiple advantages in terms of packaging and function. The new SRLCam integrates an infrared Short Range LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) Sensor and a CMOS camera into a single compact unit, which can be installed in the mirror base even in small cars. With the SRLCam, Continental has for the first time integrated two highly competitive sensor technologies in one housing. The camera together with the Short Range Lidar are already in series production today, bringing them together into one unit, however, is a novelty. The new sensor module is able to categorize objects in front of the vehicle with a very high level of reliability and detect an imminent collision. In addition to the two sensors, the whole function is integrated into the SRLCam. If the relative speed to the detected object is less than 50 km/h a crash can be completely avoided. If the speed differences are greater, emergency braking will significantly reduce the force of the impact and crash severity. In addition, the camera based driver assistance functions such as lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and intelligent headlamp control can be provided as usual. Moreover, pedestrian detection is possible. In summary a sensor package with a unique cost to benefit ratio. The SRLCam400 is part of the ContiGuard® safety system.  
  MK 100® ESC High Plus Currently available The MK 100® ESC High Plus is designed to combine the comfort requirements of driver assistance functions like FSA with the upcoming high pressure dynamic requirements of the AEB (Autonomous Emergency Brake) function, and this with bench marking performance / cost ratio, since the MK 100® ESC High plus uses the same MK 100® construction kit based on a 2 piston pump concept. With a stronger E-Motor and an optimization of the hydraulic pump, the MK 100® ESC High Plus is able to fulfill higher pressure dynamic requirements and support the AEB function which is becoming more and more important for NCAP ratings in the future.  
  MK C1 Currently available In the MK C1, the brake actuation, the brake booster and the control systems (ABS, ESC) are combined into a compact, weight-saving braking unit. The electro-hydraulic MK C1 can build up braking pressure significantly faster than conventional hydraulic systems, thereby fulfilling the increased pressure dynamics requirements for new advanced driver assistance systems in order to prevent accidents and protect pedestrians. In addition, the system can fulfill the requirements for a regenerative braking system without any additional measures, while providing a high level of comfort.  
  Short Range Lidar SRL101 Currently available Most accidents occur in cities and in more than half of the cases it is a frontal impact. Reasons for these accidents are: - No braking at all - Not braking enough - Braking too late A cost effective and highly reliable solution to meet this scenario and avoid accidents is our short-range lidar sensor SRL101. The SRL101 provides an infrared-based Emergency Brake Assist (City) and is already used in the micro-car segment.  
  Multi Function Camera MFC400 Currently available The 4th generation of the forward looking multi-function-camera (MFC400) provides driver assistance functions like lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and intelligent headlamp control. In addition, object detection for forward collision warning and pedestrian detection is available. It is based on a scalable platform, which can be delivered as a single-function-camera, e.g. for intelligent headlamp control as well as with two or three driver assistance functions running in parallel. This provides unique advantages in packaging and marketing by offering different driver assistance each at best cost possible. The MFC400 is part of the ContiGuard® safety system.  
  Pressure based Pedestrian Protection System PPS pSAT Currently available The pedestrian protection sensor consists of a flexible air hose that is laid across the entire width of the car in its front bumper. The hose is situated directly behind the foam block that is fitted at the front of the vehicle to absorb impact energy. Standardized pressure sensors (pSAT) are installed at either end of the air-filled pressure hose. When a vehicle collides with an obstacle, the resulting pressure exerted on the hose through the front bumper and foam block creates a typical waveform that is detected by the two sensors at the ends of the hose and forwarded to the SPEED airbag control unit. A pedestrian protection algorithm in the analysis software enables the type of collision to be rapidly identified. The signal propagation time also allows conclusions to be drawn about the location of the impact, for example the front right-hand corner or the middle of the vehicle. Within 10-15 milliseconds of an impact, the active hood of the vehicle is triggered and raised by special actuators. This reduces the risk of death or severe injury to the pedestrian from hitting the hood and underlying engine block. The sensor is easily adaptable to any vehicle type.  
  Safety Control Unit SPEED M Currently available SPEED M - the standard module for highly industrial markets has ignition functions for multi-stage front and side airbags, plus it can be equipped with additional modules, such as Active Rollover Sensing, which distinguishes and identifies impending vehicle rollovers at an early stage. Vehicle dynamics sensing can be integrated as an enhancement in the Safety Control Unit. SPEED is a modular safety control unit that easily adjusts to the needs of automotive manufacturers. The scalable SPEED concept fits the requirements of any market. Our innovative, expandable safety platform – is a multi-level design that can easily be adapted to a wide variety of specifications. The platform offers a high level of flexibility and integration options at minimal effort for development.  
  Airbag Control Unit SPEED XS Currently available SPEED XS provides basic functions with four firing loops as well as front and rear impact sensing. It is optionally available with side-impact sensing with up to eight firing loops. The target group is automotive manufacturers who produce for emerging markets. Up to four external crash sensors may be added. SPEED is a modular airbag control unit that easily adjusts to the needs of automotive manufacturers. The scalable SPEED concept fits the requirements of any market. Our innovative, expandable safety platform – is a multi-level design that can easily be adapted to a wide variety of specifications. The platform offers a high level of flexibility and integration options at minimal effort for development.  
  Acceleration Satellite gSAT Currently available Decentralized acceleration satellite sensor gSAT for all-around protection: the intelligent crash sensors are the perfect complement to the SPEED airbag control unit in a crash. In a collision the acceleration satellites gSAT deliver an additional plus in support. They measure and supply the information on the acceleration values in the rigid vehicle structures to the SPEED airbag control unit. SPEED can determine both – the duration of intrusion and the intensity of the crash – and activate lifesaving restraint systems in just milliseconds.  
  Standard Pressure Satellite pSAT dry-zone Currently available Decentralized pSAT pressure satellites were developed specifically for side crashes. They are installed in the cavity of the door and rapidly detect the change of pressure within the door, thereby reacting extremely quickly. The pressure satellite delivers excellent results also in situations such as pole crashes in which the vehicle suffers a side impact with a narrow obstacle or when the vehicle is hit by a raised bumper as it is the case with many sports utility vehicles (SUVs). The Standard Pressure Satellite pSAT dry-zone moreover, offers cost and time advantages in terms of installation: without any need for additional tools or fasteners, this satellite can be turned into place in the counterpart on the door with just a single motion, thanks to a novel mechanical concept.  
  Short Range Radar SRR200 Currently available The second generation of the short range radar sensor helps drivers to detect and avoid dangerous situations in the vehicle's immediate surroundings. To achieve this, the high-performance 24 Ghz radar sensor is installed at both ends of the rear bumper. Two beams constantly monitor the blind spot in the rear and next to the vehicle. The SRR200 is part of the ContiGuard® safety system.  
  Surround View Currently available Scalable solutions for Surround View is provided by 4 fish eye cameras with >180° horizontal field of view to see everything around the vehicle. Combining these cameras allows creation of any view around the vehicle. Surround view can be offered in different automotive segments. The basic version offers a pure 360-degree 3D image to assist in parking and maneuvering at low speeds. In contrast to existing systems, however, it employs only two cameras: one in front mounted in the grill and one in the rear mounted near the license plate. This entry-level system is especially suited for use in the compact-car segment due to its attractive cost structure. Still other levels will be available, all the way up to an intelligent, active surround view system. Consisting of four cameras – in front, in the rear and on the outside rearview mirrors – it can not only monitor the area all around the vehicle but also recognize pedestrians, warn the driver or even stop the vehicle in critical situations. The system is particularly suited to city driving because, for example, it is able to recognize nearby pedestrians early. It is also capable of capturing other vehicles crossing a car’s path, holding a lane and even recognizing curbing. This premium version of the surround view system will even permit vehicles to park themselves automatically, even if there is no driver inside.  
  Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) Currently available The shunt-type IBS continuously analyzes the status of conventional 12-Volt lead-acid batteries and provides information on such key parameters as the state-of-charge, state-of-function (power ability) and state-of-health (aging) of the battery. The sensor is thus essential to reliable operation of automotive start-stop systems. The IBS informs a higher level control unit, such as the engine control unit, whether there is sufficient energy left in the battery, thus ensuring that the engine can be automatically shut off and cranked again. It also supports that electrical devices such as the radio or the ventilation fan continue to operate during the stop phase. The IBS is mounted directly onto the battery and fits exactly into the niche around the negative terminal. This means that it can be deployed with any standard battery. In addition to being able to monitor the battery, the IBS also helps to detect defective electronic components in the car, thanks to its monitoring of the key-off current. The sensor enhances the automobile’s diagnostic ability and can thus warn of possible breakdowns that may not even be caused by the battery. Moreover, the IBS helps to extend battery life by 10 to 20 percent via an improved charging strategy.  
  Wheel Speed Sensor with EPB cable Currently available The integration of both functions (wheel speed signal transmission) and EPB power transmission is assured by a special 4 wire cable design having high bending durability performance, less connector interfaces and low electric resistance. The integrated WSS cable and its functions is a carry-over of the single WSS cable technology.  
  Chassis Position Sensor (CPS) Currently available The Chassis Position Sensor (CPS) is an angular sensor developed by Continental with first SOP in 2013. This sensor combines the experience and knowledge from our previous Ride Height and Pedal Angle Sensors leading to this cost-optimized and lean design. The angular Hall IC allows a full 360° measurement range. This range is programmable according to customer requirements, e.g. 4 x 90°. The signal can be analogue, PWM or with PSI5 on specific request, as single or redundant output. The standard version of the CPS sensor is equipped with a 6-pin MQS connector. In case of specific application requirements a different lever design is possible.  
  Inertial Measurement Unit for ESC Currently available The sensor cluster provides all control units in the vehicle with the vehicle’s current movement status (yaw rate, longitudinal and lateral acceleration and, optionally, pitch and roll rates) in the form of electronic signals. The verified signals are transmitted to the data bus via a standardized interface, which can also be adjusted on a customer-specific basis. In complex control algorithms, these signals are used to initiate vehicle stabilization when ESC control is activated. The signals are also needed for driver assistance systems.  
  BSZ 5D Digital Chassis Acceleration Sensor Currently available Active chassis control systems require sensors to measure the distance between the suspension and the chassis. To determine the acceleration of the body and wheels in the case of regulated shock absorber systems, acceleration sensors measure the wheel and body acceleration in the direction of the vehicle’s vertical axis. Controlled active shock absorbers are used in an attempt to further alleviate the traditional conflict of goals between sporty and comfortable chassis tuning. These kinds of systems generally exert control using four wheel path sensors and three low-g acceleration sensors. The system control unit uses these incoming signals and additional information to determine vehicle status. When a control strategy is present, the information is used to calculate the optimum shock absorption force for each wheel and set to that amount in the damper valve via the electrical control system.  
  Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) Currently available The control systems for ABS, TCS and ESC determine the wheel speed based on signals sent by the wheel speed sensors. This information is used to prevent the wheels from locking and determine when the wheels are spinning, taking appropriate control action to maintain the vehicle’s stability and steering responses. Wheel speed is measured using the anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) effect. This method and the integrated information processing feature enable our latest generation of sensors to handle many functions.  
  High Voltage Current Sensor (CSM) Currently available Continental has developed a shunt-type current sensor for automotive applications capable of reaching high precision requirements needed for HV battery management systems in electric and hybrid vehicles. The sensor provides information about current (charging/discharging) to the battery-management system which is located within the battery itself. The information is used to determine the battery charging status. It has a separate overload path to monitor in real time any overload (ASIL B-Level) and provides this information to the battery management for possible battery cut-off. The 12-Volt circuitry is electrically isolated from the high-voltage circuit. The CSM communicates via CAN interface to the battery management system.  
  Pedal Angle Sensor (PAS) Currently available Hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles make use of sensors that were developed for advanced braking systems. In this case, the condition of regenerative braking plays an important role in stopping the vehicle. To implement this function, the hybrid or electric vehicle must detect the driver’s braking intention electronically at the brake pedal and send a signal to that effect to the control unit. This can take place, for example, via an angle sensor mounted on the brake pedal. Another possibility is to measure the path traveled by the piston rod in the brake master cylinder. The Pedal Angle Sensor (PAS) concept is a best-cost alternative for future brake systems with SOP in 2013. This approach is modular and flexible and can be adjusted to meet customer requirements. The sensor has a redundant output with analogue or PWM interface.  
  Accelerator Force Feedback Pedal (AFFP®) Currently available This technology is an extension to Continental's innovative safety system and represents a further contribution to reducing the number of road traffic injuries, particularly as a result of rear-end collisions. The intelligent accelerator pedal can also help the driver to drive at a constant speed and therefore more economically with the aim of reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.  
  Electric Vacuum Pump (EVP) Currently available The EVP is able to cover all vacuum requirements – especially in electric, hybrid, and diesel-powered vehicles as well as in gasoline direct injected engines. The robust, durable design of the EVP makes it possible to use the EVP as the only source of vacuum in the vehicle. With “vacuum on demand” functionality independent of the powertrain, the EVP contributes to reducing the CO2 emissions of conventional combustion engines.  
  Electric Vacuum Pump Control Unit (EVP-ECU) Currently available The Electric Vacuum Pump Control Unit (EVP*-ECU) provides safe and reliable control of the vacuum pump including driver warning in case of malfunction within the vacuum system and provides full diagnostic capability by integrated safety master slave controllers, evaluation of 1 or 2 vacuum sensor(s), power module with soft start capability and CAN bus communication. *The EVP is able to cover all vacuum requirements especially in electric, hybrid, and diesel-powered vehicles as well as in gasoline direct injected engines. The EVP is a basic component for CO2 reduction, as it serves as a flexible vacuum on demand source. Furthermore, the EVP is used if the internal combustion engine on modern vehicles does not produce sufficient vacuum to operate the brake booster and vacuum-controlled actuators.  
  Electronic Parking Brake Systems Currently available In order to meet increasing requirements in regard of safety, comfort and networking the electric parking brake is progressively replacing the mechanical hand brakes. In addition to the improved safety and comfort for the customers it offers the car manufacturers more freedom and options for the vehicle's interior design. The Electric Parking Brake in general replaces the mechanical activation via the hand brake lever by an electrical switch and electromechanical actuators building up the required clamp forces. The EPB-Ci is the industry's mainstream product within the portfolio of EPB solutions being developed by Continental. It realizes the required brake torque via electromechanical actuators being directly mounted to the rear axle calipers. To meet car manufacturers' expectations to reduce cost, weight and size, Continental - in addition to a separate control unit - offers an integrated version. Here the controls and power stages are integrated into the MK100 ESC controller.  
  Electric Parking Brake Control Unit (EPB-ECU) Currently available The electric parking brake replaces the conventional handbrake lever within the interior by a switch or push button. The Electric Parking Brake control unit (EPB-ECU) provides a fully automated control of different types of EPB actuators e.g. caliper integrated actuators or cable pullers. The EPB-ECU controls the actuator and provides smart functionality, recognizing when to apply and release the parking brake. To do this, the EPB-ECU is fully integrated into the vehicle’s network architecture. The EPB-ECU evaluates data from various engine, transmission, and wheel sensors, as well as tracking the position of the clutch and throttle.  
  MiniMAB - One Channel ABS for Motorcycles Currently available MiniMAB - one channel ABS for motorcycles - prevents the locking of the front wheel of the motorcycle in the case of sudden braking by the driver. By avoiding a locked front wheel the stability of the two-wheeler is significantly increased and the risk of an accident is minimized. The system is designed for scooters and small motorcycles and is easily adaptable to the vehicles, because only one wheel speed sensor is required.  
  MK 100® MAB - Motorcycle Anti-lock Brake System Currently available The next generation of the existing two-channel ABS system is significantly smaller, lighter, and more easily applicable to new types of motorcycles – and the system is also more price competitive. In the standard configuration, the new MK 100 MAB includes the anti-lock brake system (ABS) and a function that recognizes when the rear wheel has lost contact with the road (Rear-Wheel Lift-Off Protection, RLP). Depending on the customer’s requirements, a sport ABS function, off-road ABS, and traction control are also possible in addition.  
  MK 100® MIB - Motorcycle Integral Brake Currently available To improve the active safety of motorcycles Continental has developed electronic brake systems for scooters and motorcycles of all classes on the base of our proven ABS technology for passenger cars. With Motorcycle Integral Brake Systems (MIB), both wheels can be used for braking, although the driver only activated one brake. The system recognizes the request of the driver to brake and actively builds up pressure on the other brake circuit, which results in both wheels being activated for braking.  
  Car2X with M2XPro (Motion Information to X Provider) Currently available The Car2X Application Unit enables a flexible and efficient Car2X communication comprising M2XPro as Continental's reliable answer to lane accurate positioning of cars based on sensor fusion of dynamic motion sensors with GPS, fitting into today’s vehicle system architecture. An intelligent algorithm and existing inertial and driving dynamics sensors are used to determine the accurate position of a car. M2XPro sensor uses an intelligent fusion algorithm to provide other control units with a vehicle’s motion information and therefore is called the Application Unit. The Sensor fusion of speed, steering angle, GPS and inertial sensor information (motion) results in fast and highly reliable signals, improved accuracy as well as relative and absolute positioning of the car. M2XPro is – together with functions for communication, security, applications etc. - part of a powerful Car2X Application Unit, which, together with the Intelligent Antenna Module as Communication Unit, builds up a complete Car2X system. The precise position of the vehicle is essential for the Car2X communication to localize hazards. The benefit of Car2X communication is the perception of road obstacles before you see them and the recognition of dangers before they become an immediate threat.  
  Multi Function Stereo Camera SMFC400 Currently available Since the stereo camera has two ‘eyes’, it is able to use the difference in the images within one camera shot to detect every type of obstacle,from loads that have fallen onto the road to people, animals and road boundaries, and can determine their size and the distance to them. The 4th generation of the multifunction-camera will be enhanced by various features, such as vehicle and pedestrian detection.  
  Advanced Radar Sensor ARS400 Premium Currently available The ARS400 realized a broad field of view by two independent scans in conjunction with the high range functions like Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Emergency Brake Assist can be easily implemented.   Fixed Type Caliper (Zero Split 4MN) Currently available Our new generation of fixed calipers combines our years of positive experience with floating and fixed caliper disc brakes. The new fixed type caliper has an extremely sporty look and with its appealing, eye-catching design, it is highly recognizable. The lower power-to-weight ratio contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing fuel economy. The fixed type caliper is easily scalable as a combination in various sizes.  
  Generation III Aluminum Booster Currently available The latest brake booster generation (Booster Gen. III) features further weight reduction (full aluminum with reduced wall thickness) and an ultrashort installation length. We supply vacuum brake boosters in both single and tandem design, in all required sizes. All product variants are available in conventional steel, but also in lightweight aluminum housing versions. The tie rod version, available for all designs, features further weight reduction and also optimized deflection characteristics. Frontbolt designs on a tie rod basis simplify assembly at the OEM.

  New Compact Evolution Caliper Currently available Our new generation of aluminum compact fist calipers expand the Continental family with a brand-new design for performance cars. The fresh look not only make a great visual impact, it even enables the caliper to work in the smallest available rim. The use of the well established Continental FN caliper principles provides robust noise behavior.  
  Control Unit for Double Clutch Transmission Currently available The dry double clutch transmission is fully controlled by the Continental Mechatronic Actuator Control Module. It combines the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) and two BLDC motors in one mechatronic module. The MAM is directly mounted to the transmission on the side turned away from the engine in driving direction and is cooled by ambient air. Compared to integrated modules, this mounting place leads to considerably reduced temperature loads. Despite the equal parts strategy the construction is flexible to custom requirements. The mechatronic module features only two connectors: one to transmission wiring harness and one to the vehicle wiring harness. Considerable weight and cost reduction through integration of shift drum actuators and minimized wiring harness.  
  Control Unit for Stepped Automatic Transmission Currently available The TEHCM (Transmission Electro Hydraulic Control Module) is a self-enclosed transmission control module use as a means to automatically shift transmission gears through the use of several solenoids as dictated through a transmission control module, also included within the TEHCM. This allows for providing smooth shifting of the transmission while delivering top level fuel efficiency across a number of front wheel drive applications.  
  Demand Controlled Fuel Supply Unit (Gasoline) Currently available The demand controlled fuel supply unit combines the functions fuel supply, fuel level measurement and where required pressure regulation, fuel filtration and other functions.

  Stand-alone Pump Control Module Currently available Pump control electronics are essential for EC pump operation. But DC pumps can be controlled by electronics too. This allows demand controlled fuel delivery to the engine. So consumption of electric energy is reduced and the lifetime of the pump is increased (in comparison to systems without demand control). Reduced consumption of electric energy leads to reduced fuel consumption and reduced CO₂-emission of the vehicle.  
  Turbocharger for Gasoline Engines Currently available In turbochargers a turbine is turned by the engine's exhaust gas energy. The turbine drives a compressor, from which the pressurized air – containing more oxygene for a better combustion - is conducted to the engine cylinder. By this also the pumping losses resulting from air soaking in naturally aspirated engines are avoided and the otherwise un- used exhaust gas energy is reused. Doing so either significantly greater power can be achieved from existing engines or engine downsizing can be realized with the same power output, but considerably smaller displacement and lower consumption and CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the engine benefits from the “diesel engines like” greater low end torque or, in other words, more tractive power which drivers regard as a decisive criterion for the vehicle's performance. The combination of engine downsizing, direct injection and optimized valve timing allows the engine to operate within ranges which are thermodynamically highly efficient. Drivers will experience these advantages in the form of much lower fuel consumption and power characteristics which for diesel engines are renowned.

  Shift-by-Wire Actuator (DSM - Direct Shift Module) Currently available The DSM offers a shift by wire function for the PRND selection of an automatic transmission. Thereby it allows to omit the conventional bulky PRND shift lever – gaining space for other control elements. The driver selects PRND by an electronic control e. g. a steering column switch. The DSM receives this driver command via CAN and converts it to a mechanical selection of the PRND setting at the gear box . This actuation is done by a motor, which is controlled by a dedicated ASIC (ATIC 106) which also includes the 5V power supply. A second motor enables an “emergency” shift to P function in case of a breakdown of the power supply. DSM is used in most of the Mercedes platforms and with the Landrover Evoke
